Freshly baked bread and rolls are the best when they are hot from the oven, and now they will stay warm until the very last roll has been buttered and eaten!

Just pop the rice pouch into the microwave, then slip it into the pocket at the center of the bread cloth. Your bread will stay warm until the last bit of turkey is devoured.

Supplies

Supplies needed:

  • 3/4 yard of the fabric of your choice

  • 1/4 yard of muslin

  • A bread basket

  • 2-1/3 yards of jumbo rickrack trim

  • 1 cup of uncooked rice

Designs Used

Instructions:

Along one selvage edge of the fabric, mark a 22-inch square.  In each corner, embroider a design. I embroidered the Pumpkin and Vines corner design in two opposite corners and the accessory design in the other two corners.

The outer edges of the designs should be at least 1-1/2 inches from the markings.

When you have finished embroidering, cut out the square.

From the remaining fabric, cut out two rectangles that are 13 inches wide by 22 inches long. Hem one long side of each rectangle.

Stitch the rickrack along the edges of the embroidered square. (You should stitch down the center of the rickrack to get the best results.)

Place the hemmed rectangles over the embroidered square, with the right sides down and the hemmed edges overlapping down the center of the square.

Pin the layers together so that everything stays in place.

Stitch the layers together around the entire outer edge of the square. It works best to follow the stitching line that you made when attaching the trim.

Trim the seam allowances at the four corners and turn the unit right side out. Topstitch around the outside edge

With a disappearing marking pen, mark a 7-inch-diameter circle in the center of the square.

Stitch all the way around the marked circle.

From the muslin, cut out two circles that are 8 inches in diameter.

Using a half-inch seam allowance, stitch around the outer edge, but leave a 3-inch opening for turning. Clip the seam allowances.

Turn the circle right side out, and edge stitch around the stitched edge.

Fill the bag with rice and stitch the opening shut.

Heat the rice bag in the microwave for 2 to 3 minutes, and slip it in the pocket that is formed from the overlapping rectangles on the unembroidered side of the unit.

Place the warmer in the bread basket, and load it up with breads, buns, and rolls. Your family will love to have nice warm bread at every meal.
