Three-Piece Embroidered Bell Pull

Three-Piece Embroidered Bell Pull

Bell pulls are colorful and vibrant additions to home decor. Thee project instructions show you how to arrange a three-piece design vertically, then turn the long design into a bell pull with a decorative pieced border.

Supplies & Materials:

Project Materials or Supplies
- 25" x 10" polyester batting
- 1/4 yard quilter's cotton (front)
- 2 quarter flats (sides)
- 1/4 yard quilter's cotton (back)
- Cutaway stabilizer
- Spray adhesive
- Rotary cutter, mat
- Coordinating thread
- Tassel
- One 1 1/2" craft ring
- 10" long 1/2" wooden dowel
- Small hand saw
- Paper
- Masking tape

The designs used in this tutorial include:

- X3189, Star-Spangled Teddy Bear Bell Pull (3 Pieces)

First, embroider the designs onto quilter's cotton.

Quilter's cotton is lightweight, and needs the support of cutaway stabilizer. Spray a piece of cutaway stabilizer with adhesive, and smooth the stabilizer onto the backside of the quilter's cotton.

Hoop both stabilizer and fabric together, with the grain.

You can embroider all three designs on the same piece of fabric, or embroider the designs on three separate pieces of fabric. If you are embroidering the designs on one piece of fabric, leave 3" in between each sewout for seam allowances.

Measure, mark, and cut the designs from the fabric using these measurements:

**Top piece: leave 1 1/4" on the top, 3/4" on each side, and 1/4" on the bottom.

**Middle piece: leave 1/4" on the top, 3/4" on the sides, and 1/4" on the bottom.

**Bottom piece: leave 1/4" on the top, and 3/4" on the sides. For the bottom piece, leave 3/4" along both sides and the pointed side. To mark the allowance for the point, follow the lines of the embroidered border.

Repeat this with the bottom piece. Place the bottom piece against the middle piece, right sides together, lining up the checks in both pieces. Secure with pins.
