Sylvia made this quilt, and she won an award with it. I'll let her tell you the story: "'Global Warming' received an honorable mention in the Show Challenge category. The show challenge was to create a quilt that interpreted the show theme of 'Hot Threads, Cool Quilts,' and use some sort of surface dimension/texture/embellishment. The contrast between hot and cold made me think of the fact that the coldest places on earth will be most affected by global warming. For the gigantic machine embroidered penguin, I went looking for the biggest penguin design I could find on your site! With days to spare, I've finally finished my Show Challenge quilt for the upcoming Cotton Patch Quilt Show! It's not my best effort ever, but there are parts of it I'm really happy with." Oh Sylvia, I think the whole quilt is just fabulous! I can see how it won an award. The waves and the sky are marvellous, and the mountains, too. Thank you for sharing this amazing project with us!
