Avis made this stunning piece with the Art Nouveau Barn Owl Panel design. She has a Brother Quattro 6000 machine.

She writes, "I embroidered the design onto outdoor fabric that is heavy and tightly woven." She used cutaway stabilizer on the back. Then, after embroidering she cut around the finished design. "For the background, I used Kona cotton with a spider chrysanthemum print. It's attached to heavy cardstock with quilt basting spray. The design is mounted on the fabric with permanent spray adhesive. The corners are embellished with gold organza ribbon. I have had this design for over a year, and the fabric for longer than that. They sort of 'spoke' to each other one day, and this is the result! Although I have collected barn owl art, books and memorabilia for over 5 decades, this design is my all time favorite. Wow - this is a work of art! The spider chrysanthemum print is a perfect match to the art nouveau detail in the design, and I understand completely how they "spoke" to each other. You have an excellent eye for pairing and color, Avis. This is extraordinary!
