Damask Christmas Tree Decor
Created By Betty
Betty used damask and filigree designs to make beautiful decorations for her tree. She writes, "I have turned both your damask Christmas designs and your filigree ornament design into padded Christmas tree decorations. I stitched the filigree ornaments onto felt, then after stitching placed a piece of felt under the stitched design and cut out 1/8 to 1/4 inch around the design. I stitched a 9 inch piece of ribbon folded in half at the back of the embroidered design for a hanging loop and blanket stitched with matching thread right around the cut out shape leaving an opening for the polyester filling, then closed the opening with blanket stitching. I then added heat fixed crystals for a little bling. I stitched the filigree ornament design onto felt, backed the stitched design with felt, cut out, added a ribbon hanging loop and blanket stitched around the shape and and filled it with polyester filling and again added some crystals. I really enjoyed making these designs and turning them into more than just an embroidery design."
These look beautiful, Betty! I like the addition of the crystals, too - extra sparkle and shine for the tree. Thank you for sending the photos and the tips for others to make their own!
