Shabbat Shalom Challah Covering
Created By Nadine
Nadine's new daughter-in-law, Molly, is converting to Judaism and so wanted to make something for Molly to celebrate. Her creation was a challah cover, which is used during Sabbath. Challah is a type of bread used in Sabbath dinners on Friday nights. After a blessing over wine, the challah cover is removed and everyone at the dinner tears off a piece of the challah. Covers are often embroidered with the word Sabbath or a prayer associated with Sabbath. Nadine embroidered 'Peaceful Sabbath' and the Pomegranate Botanical on the cover. Pomegranates are associated with long life and in Jewish tradition, can symbolize fruitfulness and an association with the commandments. It looks amazing with how colorful it is! Thanks for sharing, Nadine! Molly must have really appreciated this gift!
