Stitched Steering Wheel Cover
Created By Jean
Jean made a very unique - and pretty! - gift for her sewing club's Christmas party. She writes, "I thought you might like to see this steering wheel cover, I made it for a Kris Kringle at our sewing club Christmas get together. The lady that ended up with it was so thrilled. No more burnt fingers after leaving the car parked all day in the sun."
So clever! She adds, "Inside the layers I use insul-bright and I also line with a sun block out fabric, which is used on the back of window drapes - anything really to keep that sun off the steering wheel when it is parked outside for a long period. Then of course the pretty side is always embroidered with one of your wonderful designs, depending who I am making it for. I made a masculine one for my husband in a plain brown suede like fabric and embroidered one of your deck of cards. If making for a special occasion, birthday etc, the back section can have an embroidered greeting. They would make a great gift for a young person just getting their first car, 18th birthday. I made up the pattern myself, it has been a great hit at my golf course. I made one for a golf prize and a lot of the ladies wanted me to make them one."
Jean, this is an excellent idea! She used the May Your Bobbin Always Be Full design and changed the colors to match the fabric prints used. Brava, Jean - love this!
