Summer Door Decor
Created By Jan
Jan sent in a photo of a creative and colorful piece she made for her door. Wow! It's so bright and sunny - and I love how she used embroidery and other items to bring excellent dimension. She has a Husqvarna Diamond machine. She writes, "When I saw the Summer design, I knew it would be incorporated into something for my August door decoration. I started with a bright green round wicker placemat from the Dollar Store and glued it to a 14 inch cardboard pizza round. I tacked about a yard of medium yellow rick rack around the edge for contrast. Then I thought 'What's more summery than flip flops?'"
She went back to the Dollar Store and found the perfect pair.
She continues, "I stitched all of the designs on felt and then cut around them. It was so much easier to place them this way. I ran some tacky glue down from the sand pail and added some gold glitter for sand. And I glued some rhinestones to the flower centers for glitz!"
The gold glitter as sand is perfect, Jan - and it's those details that make this piece extraordinary. It's so summery and fun - a ray of sunshine for everyone that visits your home. Beautifully done, and thank you for inspiring us with this idea!
