Supplies needed:
- 100 mm glass ornament
- Thread snips
- Hand needle threaded with metallic thread
- 18" to 20" of decorative ribbon
- Any design that is 4 x 4 or smaller
Sew out embroidery design and then a mirror image of the same design. We used white felt with medium-weight, cut-away stabilizer. Cut out both design sewouts close to the stitching.
Glue or tack the embroideries, wrong sides together.
Carefully remove the top of the ornament, which is held in place with a wire.
Insert a filler decoration for the bottom of the ornament. We used thread snips from our sewing room
Thread a hand sewing needle with metallic thread and pull the thread through the top of the embroideries. This is how you will suspend inside of the ornament.
Carefully roll the embroideries to fit inside the neck of the ornament and insert into the neck. Make sure that the thread for hanging the embroideries does not fall into the ball of the ornament.
While holding the ornament and strings with your left hand, use a paint brush or tweezers to push the embroideries against the inside of the ornament ball to straighten out the curves that you made when you inserted the embroideries.
Pick up the ornament top and carefully insert the threads through the small slit where the wire comes through the ornament top. Then replace the ornament top onto the ball without letting go to the threads.
Determine the height that you want the embroideries to hang in the ball and then tie the threads tightly to the wire in the ornament top.
Add a ribbon bow.
