Embroidery designs that call for fabric pieces to be added, such as applique and in-the-hoop designs, come with dieline files that tell you exactly what fabric shape to cut. These files have “DL” in the filename and come in the same file formats as regular embroidery designs.
To use the dieline files, open each dieline file with embroidery software, and print it at full size. Printing will look different depending on which embroidery software program you’re using.
You will use this as a pattern to cut out your fabric shape.
If you don’t have embroidery software, you can stitch the dieline file directly on fabric instead, and then cut it out.
After your fabric shape is cut out, you can lay it down while stitching out the embroidery design, at the step specified on the color change sheet. Refer to the project instructions associated with the design for more information.
