Zipped and unzipped: What's the difference?
What is the difference between zipped or unzipped? How do I unzip files? |
When you download designs from your order history, design packs and 1-click download options will always come as zipped or compressed files since both contain multiple files. Embroidery machines cannot read zipped files. Most embroidery software cannot open zipped files either. The simplest step is to download unzipped files by using the download icon below each available product in your download center. |
However, the benefit to zipped files is that they are compressed, and take up less space. If storage space is a concern for you, then choose zipped files. Also, some designs, such as in-the-hoop or applique designs, can only be downloaded as zipped. If you download zipped files, then you'll need to unzip them before loading to your machine. The process is very fast and simple. On a Windows or Microsoft computer, you can simply double-click on the zipped file to access the compressed files. Drag and drop these files from the zipped folder to another location. Alternatively, you can right-click on a zipped file and choose which program you want to use for opening: |
After you've selected which program you want to use, a window should pop-up that contains your unzipped files. These can then be moved to another unzipped location. |
The process is very similar on a Mac. If you have questions about the above, let us know! Send an email to [email protected]. |
