Beautiful Gifts for Graduates

** registered as kibble@unicornwoman.com ** Two "nieces" graduated from High School this spring. I wanted something special for them, even though we aren't really bloodkin, just family by mutual choice. I decided on throw pillows, using Rose Knotwork and Celtic Knotwork Corner Designs. With my Pfaff 2140, that meant 5 hoopings for each pillowtop. I ruined my first attempted when I forgot that the Celtic Knotwork Corner had to be flipped and rotated for the next corner. Worse, I didn't have enough thread to replace in the same color. I switched to more icetones and adore the results. I use Madiera Rayon thread. I made the pillowforms from odds & ends here. What to do for the trim? Nothing I had was right. I didn't want to purchase at the store, though I did look. I finally settled on making my own. But then the next trial: I didn't have a fringe maker. So, I bent a clothes hanger into one. It worked, though, I plan to redesign the "fringe maker" to be wider. This tool makes a pretty wide header on the fringe and needs to be tucked deeply in the seam to hide the header stitching. Still, all told the results please me greatly! FAVORITE
