Blackwork Bucket Bag

Created By Pat

Pat sent in photos of a magnificent bag she made with contemporary blackwork designs.

She writes, "I have attached some photos of a bucket bag I completed recently. This bag is a prototype for a small evening bag I intend to make in the near future. I needed to work out sizes and I wasn't too sure my ideas would work with this style of bag because I had only constructed the bag from patches. The bag could easily be made using a more conventional approach with the strips but that was too easy and I wanted to see if my ideas would work or not. The result I believe is stunning. The fabric I used was upholstery grade pseudo suede, which makes a nice firm bag and a good base for embroidery. The evening bag will be in silk and will also be half the size of this bag. How to recreate this in silk is the next challenge." Pat has a Janome MB4 machine.

This is fabulous! I love how Pat turned those embroidered rectangles on their points - that adds so much energy, and a unique look. When we posted Pat's purse on Facebook, she got oodles of rave reviews. That led us to develop the Color Dazzle Tote tutorial, based on Pat's creation.

Pat, thank you for inspiring us with your work!
