Color Dazzle Tote Bag

Created By Pat
Pat's tote bag created quite a buzz when it appeared on Facebook! Everyone was raving about the colors, the angles, and the construction of the bag.She writes, "I have attached some photos of a bucket bag I completed recently. This bag is a prototype for a small evening bag I intend to make in the near future. I needed to work out sizes and I wasn't too sure my ideas would work with this style of bag because I had only constructed the bag from patches. The bag could easily be made using a more conventional approach with the strips but that was too easy and I wanted to see if my ideas would work or not. The result I believe is stunning. The fabric I used was upholstery grade pseudo suede, which makes a nice firm bag and a good base for embroidery, the evening bag will be in silk and will also be half the size of this bag. How to recreate this in silk is the next challenge. Thank you for your great designs."
The result IS stunning, Pat! The angle of the embroidered pieces gives energy and movement to the bag. And, the blackwork designs, with pops of color, are so eyecatching with the black-and-white fabric that you've used.
For those that wish to make something similar, the Color Dazzle Tote tutorial is an excellent resource.
Thank you, Pat, for sending in the photo and inspiring us with your work!
