Pretty Placemats, with Holders!

Created By Kathy

Kathy has been making the most clever placemats - complete with napkin and silverware holders!

She writes, "Every year the school has a Teacher Appreciation week and I usually make something for the grandkids to give to their teachers. So I came up this year with placemats and silverware holder. I sewed this on my Husqvarna Viking D1. I used the Playful Frog Applique and enlarged it to fit in my 5X7 hoop. I printed 2 die lines, so I could cut one across the middle of the face to make the pocket, and stitched it out. I then made the placemats to look like a lily pad. The teacher I made this for, likes frogs, and her favorite color is green."

That turned out great! I know that teacher felt very appreciated with this gift - and it's very clever to use an applique design for that, Kathy.

She treated us to two more photos of her work, too! "I was invited to my son's for a barbecue on the 4th of July. Not wanting to show up empty handed I made some placemats and silverware holders. After a while space to store things becomes an issue, so I decided to make two in one. One side is for the 4th of July, with rocket silverware holder, and the other side is watermelons, with watermelon silverware holders. I showed the 'rockets' to the manager of my local Viking store, and he thought they were really a great idea. When I told him where I got them, his comment was 'they really have some great ideas there.' I agree, I can hardly wait till the next new designs come out."

Kathy, thank you for your lovely compliment. But you get all the credit - these are great! Pair your imagination and creativity with designs and fabric prints, and the possibilities really are endless. Thank you for sending the photos and inspiring us with your work!
