Sashiko Squares Quilt

Created By Barbara
Barbara has a Janome 10001 machine, and she gets a lot of inspiration by browsing through the Stitchers Showcase. She writes, "Looking at projects submitted by other sewists I was inspired to make a Sashiko quilt. The great thing about creating a design stash is getting appealing designs when they are on sale, then having them whenever the mood strikes to use them. I wanted to use only what was in my stash (both designs and fabric) - and almost succeeded. Only one extra piece of print for the back was purchased new. I used more than one set of the Sashiko designs so I didn't repeat any of them. The designs embroidered up so quickly that I was especially pleased. This quilt I will keep for myself, so am looking forward to much cooler weather to be able to use it."
This is wonderful, Barbara! She embroidered the designs in bright thread on dark blue fabric, and the result is eye-catching. Lighter blue fabric strips form the borders. Barbara used a variety of Sashiko designs - both simple, and more complex with multiple colors - and her arrangement is lovely.
Thank you, Barbara, for sending the photo. It is a joy to see your work!
