Scenic Quilt

Created By Pam
When Pam's sister turned 60, Pam created a fun package that included one present for every decade. This one pictured here was the present designated for the 5th decade. It took her most of the weekends over the course of three months to complete this lovely gift. When she first began, she knew that she wanted a river, the train across the horizontal plane of the quilt, and some Canadian geese in the sky. The rest of the quilt was filled in as she went along. She used her Husqvarna Viking Diamond to help her complete the project. She worked hard on this project, starting with a cotton lawn that is overlaid by fabrics for the sky and two shades of green for the ground, then created the train tracks, pond and the river by herself. She then used cut outs for the trees and clouds. Her one regret, she says, "My dad pointed out that I had incorrectly embroidered the caboose as the second carriage instead of the last - oops :( I have never seen a caboose, so I didn't know! I figured this could be my one deliberate mistake for this quilt in the Persian tradition!" No Matter - this is a truly stunning gift. With this as only one of six - that is one very lucky and loved sister! Thanks for sharing, Pam! FAVORITE
