Audrey writes of this fabulous hat... "I needed a straw hat to wear in the pool for water aerobics. I saw your Facebook post and couldn't resist. I picked up this hat at Kohls. It's softer than straw but with a straw look, and doesn't have as wide a brim. It limited my embroidery space to 2" high, but I found this Butterflies and Flowers design that was just the right size. I hooped two layers of a Vilene type stabilizer, used a spray adhesive as Kenny recommended, and laid the brim on that. I basted it in place with my Viking's auto fix, laid another layer of Vilene on top, and embroidered away. I did use a beige bobbin thread that pretty well matched the hat color, rather than needing to make so many different color bobbins. The embroidery came out great." The entire hat came out great! Your name on it in the same color as one of the flowers is a classy touch. What a fun spring and summer hat. Thank you for sharing your method --and outstanding results -- with us, Audrey.
