Stylish Sashiko Quilt

Created By Ingrid

Ingrid from Germany sent in a photo of a gorgeous quilt she made with Sashiko designs.

Sashiko embroidery is rooted in Asian culture and tradition. Historically this style of embroidery was used to bind layers of fabric together to add extra warmth, and to repair threadbare fabric.

Ingride used two different styles of Sashiko designs. The multi-colored ones are complex - a mix of fills and running stitches. The other designs - the simple Sashiko designs - can be embroidered onto fabric, or used to quilt through layers of fabric.

Beautiful work, Ingrid. Thank you for sending the photo and inspiring us with this quilt!
