Tour of England Quilt

Created By Carol
Carol made not one, but two gorgeous quilts to celebrate her sister's once-in-a-lifetime trip to England. She has two machines: a Singer XL6000 and a Viking Platinum 750. "I decided to make two memory quilts, one for each of them. Your Countryside and House toile designs closely resembled some of their photos the had sent me, so I added them as well. The center block of each quilt is an iron-on transfer of one of their actual photos. To quilt the throws I used a light layer of batting and a cuddly fleece backing which is held all together using your Rose and Floral Border toile designs. The embroidery and quilting were done my Singer XL-6000 and the quilt piecing was done on my Viking Platinum 750. Both my sister and friend were very excited to receive such a beautiful keepsake of their trip and my sister has named the quilts 'Tour of England.'"
Carol and her sister are both very creative and artistic. She adds, "I'm the sewist in the family, but my sister is creative in so many other ways. She is a great artist, crochets exceptionally, and has a great sense of design. We live several hours apart, but are constantly bouncing ideas off each other so it was really hard to keep it a secret when I was making the quilts."
I'm sure it was, Carol - I would have a hard time keeping that secret too!
I appreciate that Carol quilted with toile designs. Toile designs are light and open, and while they're not "officially" quilting designs, they can be used with great success, as Carol's work demonstrates.
Thank you, Carol, for sending the photo and inspiring us with these beautiful gifts!
