Dear Embroidery Library staff, I have made many gifts and projects from designs that I have purchased on your website. Of all the embroidery websites I visit, I visit yours the most often and purchase most of my designs from your site! You are the best! I love all the free videos, projects, and tips that have helped me grow in this hobby that I love. Attached are three photos of 8 placemats that I made and embroidered from your Around the World redwork set. This set was perfect because my son and his wife have done lots of traveling and also love cats! I made these 8 placemats for my son's birthday. Because of the travel and kitty themes, I thought they and their two children (our grandchildren) would enjoy having some special placemats to use in their home. First, I found the fabric for the back of the placemats that complemented their home decor color scheme (first photo -- 2013 Greg BD 09sm). Those fabric colors determined the colors for the embroidered designs on the front sides. Next, I made eight placemats so that I could use all designs in the set. I also found some smaller free designs (on other sites) and made some word designs that complemented places to which they have traveled (second photo -- a sample of one of the 8 placemat fronts -- 2013 Greg 09sm). Finally, when showing a friend my project, she commented that she would be hesitant to use such nice placemats with young children (my grandchildren). So, I created two plastic covers from an inexpensive vinyl shower curtain, so that the grandchildren can select which placemat they would like to place inside the cover and not have any worries about spilled milk (third photo -- 2013 Greg BD 10sm). It was one of those projects that developed as I made each segment, but I am very pleased with how they turned out and wanted to share them with you.
