My Janome machine won't read the design
Resolving transferring issues with Janome machines |
If you try to send a design to your Janome machine, but the design doesn't display or you get an error message, check the following: 1. Design exceeds the size or stitch limit of the machine If your machine is too small to accommodate the size of the design, or the number of stitches, then the Janome machine will give an error message. The error message usually references "damaged data." Here is a list of Janome machines and stitch count limits. Compare your machine's limitations to the size and stitch count of the design. If the design exceeds your machine's capabilities, then you'll need to edit / split the design to comply. Or, in some cases we can exchange for smaller sizes; review this HELP topic for more details. |

2. Flash card or USB isn't formatted / design not in proper subfolder Most Janome machines take a flash card or USB device. Format the device on the embroidery machine; instructions may be in your user's manual. Formatting the device creates a folder structure on the device. When unzipped JEF files are placed in the proper folder / subfolder, the Janome machine can read the design. Janome has published an excellent guide for their machines and required folders and subfolders. Click here to download the guide.
